NIGHT THREE OF THE BIG BOY BED

We have now entered three consecutive nights of glorious, uninterrupted sleep in Noah’s “Big Boy” bed.
Why, OH WHY, did I wait so long to transfer him to the toddler bed? Maybe I can credit his ease of transition and adaptability to the fact that he just turned three but I was honestly so hesitant to tackle this particular milestone. He never once tried to climb out of his crib and, according to his doctor, I could keep him in there as long as he slept comfortably and did not endanger himself by trying to climb out.
It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that Noah started jumping around wildly in the crib and yelling to be taken out in the mornings, simply because he was bored. We tried to wait until we had a free weekend or a day off when we could set the new bed up early and allow him to hang out in it all day before he was expected to sleep in it at night. Still, I anticipated a struggle. I anticipated resistance and cries in the middle of the night because of the change.
Maybe I’m speaking too soon but we haven’t had any of that. He has been sleeping like a dream. And the early mornings? They are much easier to manage, albeit a bit more active for Noah. He has been climbing down from his bed, grabbing a couple toys and books, and returning under the covers to play. I’m a light sleeper so I hear him the instant he wakes but I can now lay in bed and relax for a few minutes before my feet hit the floor and the rush of the morning really begins. Lucky for us our rooms and beds are set up in a way that we can see each other from across the hall. He even waved to me from his bed this morning. It’s like he saying, “Ma, I got this, don’t worry.”
