FAMILY TREE
Noah’s family tree is… complicated. He has eight birth siblings in total and between all of those siblings, there are six birth parents and loads of foster parents. None of the children have lived consistently with any caregiver or parent and, since they are split between so many homes now, it is incredibly difficult to get them all together for visits. Here’s the breakdown of who everyone is:
Noah
Nephew of Mary and the inspiration behind this blog! Noah lived with his birth mother and father until DCBS removed him at 9 months of age. He was then placed with Mary and J.
Mary
Noah’s maternal aunt and permanent relative caregiver; sister of Mother C
J
Mary’s husband/Noah’s maternal uncle by marriage and permanent relative caregiver
Mother C
Noah’s birth mother; currently in a residential rehab facility
Father S
Noah’s birth father; location unknown; has appealed to DCBS that he would like to terminate his rights to all of his children
Brother D
Noah’s half brother on his mother’s side (age 11); currently placed with his birth father (we’ll call him Big R). Brother D was shuffled between his maternal grandmother and paternal grandparents until age 8. At that time he began living with his birth father. Big R was given de facto custody after he signed a false affidavit stating that Brother D had lived in his home for three years.
Sister A
Noah’s half sister on his mother’s side (age 9); currently placed with her paternal grandparents (her birth father is different from all the other children - we’ll call him Father CC). Sister A lived with Mother C and Father CC until they broke up. At that point she shuffled between her maternal grandmother and paternal grandparents’ homes.
Sister Z
Noah’s half sister on his mother’s side (age 5); currently placed with her maternal grandmother (although her birth father is Big R also - he chose to take Brother D but not Sister Z). Sister Z lived with Mother C and Father CC until 6 months of age. She then moved in with her maternal grandmother.
Brother E
Noah’s full brother (age 16 months); currently placed with foster parents outside the family (Foster L and Foster P). Brother E was placed with Foster L and Foster P directly from the hospital after birth.
Baby S
Noah’s full sister (age 3 months); currently placed with the same foster parents as Brother E. Baby S was also placed with Foster L and Foster P directly from the hospital after birth.
Noah also has three half siblings (teenage brother and a two sisters around the ages of 10 and 8) from his birth father’s side from a previous marriage that we have no contact with. They are currently placed with their maternal relatives and, to my knowledge, have no contact with their father’s relatives.
